On the 25th May 2007, the event VillageTalk was run with the goal of bringing a wide range of people from various fields of interests into a single room for a session of unreserved learning and possible collaboration. Inspired by TED, this event brought speakers like Uzyn Chua(Founder of Ping.sg) and Darren Ho(CEO of MGX Pte LTD) as well as more prominent figures like Professor Ho Khai Leong(a political scientist and author of "Shared Responsibilities, Unshared Power: The Politics of Policy Making in Singapore) and Paddy Tan(CEO of BAK2U.com) Adrianna Tan from popagandhi.com also spoke adding much required food for thought.
What started as a exciting leap of faith to bring an out of the ordinary concept to Singapore ended off with a warm crowd that was enriched by the insights. Many were also inspired by the event with many describing it as a reminder to them to pursue their dreams. While the organisers are still struggling to define in words what the event is about, it clear from the responses that this is one event whose definition is best experienced.
The next VillageTalk is slated for September 2007. More details will be made available in due course.
