Page 1 of 15 I begin by first apologising for not writing after that 12.30pm update. The battery went flat afterwhich most of the power plugs were used and I didn't want to squabble over them. Anyhow, you can check out the reviews and post-event updates at other blogs like SGEntrepreneurs or Bjornolicious ...better still...just go to Ping.SG and search for "Nexus"...
Before going for Nexus , I wrote about how I skeptical I was about any kind of change. How has Nexus changed that? Has it even? What are my thoughts?
Firstly, it was a great conference where the crowd was large enough to actually have a diverse enough crowd for intellectual exchange. It could have been more fearsome(insider joke: instead of just that man asking long-winded questions) but it was great overall. People were really trying to open up with their opinions, and concerns. Although I wasn't at the Crowdsourcing talk, I heard people were questioning the reason for censorship on sites like Tomorrow.sg and Stomp . Does this mean that people are becoming more daring? Maybe. On a Positivity Scale(PS) of 1 to 10..i say...the participants warrant a 6.5.
Next, thing that i think made an impact during Nexus was the last talk where they brought in Farzad Naimi, Cory Ondrejka and Roberto Mariani to talk about their journey as entrepreneurs. They shared not just the right stuff that they did. They spoke of their struggles. It's always good to hear about the failures, mistakes and struggles of entrpeneurs - it humanises the subject. It gives hope to us small fries. It makes our struggles seem more like rites of passage than mere incompetence. This session alone I think should have inspired more people to want to go for gold - to start something on their own. They ended with very simple advice...If you want to start something, the best way is to start it. Just take that leap. It'll put things into better perspective. On the PS scale, i'd say the talks hit 8.5
Lastly, was the evening chill out session they had. With the free booze and good food(it was good food all day actually), it really gave people a chance to sit around and strike up conversations with the This chill out...8 on the PS Scale
All in all, Nexus hit an average of 7.33 ....pretty good I'd say. =)
So what next? Will people actually start something? Will people still be afraid to dream? As at the time I write this...probably they will start something...but if they delay....if they wait a week...maybe even 2. The fire would die and everyone would as happy leading their lives as it is just as they'll eventually be happy with the GST increase....
Personally...I hope you start something. And I don't mean a new site or something. It could be a new cafe, a new service, a new fashion label, a new activist organisation...Anything. If you're dreaming it. Realise it.
Are you up to something? Tell us about it. No. 1 : if the passion is really there, nothing could put the fire down. :) No. 2 : i find it really encouraging to see how there are still people out there willing to fight for their dreams. (= You are one of them. No. 3 : No worries. Good luck with where you want to take XSMatter to. In any case, I am sure that we will find some opportunities to collaborate at some point. Meanwhile, I look forward to see u soon. :) No. 4 : zyrtec No. 5 : tramadol No. 6 : tramadol hydrochloride |
